Beautiful and inspiring stationary goods for “writing”
The building Uragu is situated used to be a teahouse, where maiko lived and worked in Miyagawacho, one of the five Kagai districts in Kyoto. Uragu was opened in the summer of 2006. Uragu is also a graphic design studio which creates original stationery for writing and sells them in the shop. “Ippitsu-ori” (a memo pad with bellows), “Ippitsu-tsuka” (a memo block in 475 sheets boxed in ceramic ware), “Kansu” (for a guest book and for recording), “Kiccho” (a notebook for memorial days), all items are unique and originally designed. The patterns in these items have a “Japanese-style”, and are well designed so that not to be too intrusive or interfere when writing letters on it. You can feel the quality of Kyoto’s “writin culture” that has matured and grown out of a long history.
