Shusai Shokubo Ichi
First-class taste at a reasonable price – up and coming restaurant attracting regular fans
Contrary to the casual appearance of the restaurant, this is an establishment where diners can enjoy truly first-class dishes. The owner and chef, Ippei Suzuki, used to work for one of Kyoto’s renowned and high-class restaurants, Tankuma. However, when he opened his own restaurant, one of his wishes was to make his restaurant feel more casual, like a local diner. “I want many people to enjoy a wide array of delicious dishes,” Suzuki says. Therefore, prices are surprisingly reasonable. The lunch set is very popular and many of his fans come and eat lunch daily, so Suzuki considers their health and arranges well-balanced dishes. The weekly lunch set offers more than it costs: a main dish (meat or fish) along with healthy vegetable dishes and egg rolls. For dinner, the chef’s recommended course (3,500 yen) is a good choice.
