Miyake Hachimangu Shrine
“Mushi-Hachiman-san” - Well known for its benefit of relieving convulsions for children, commonly called
Miyake Hachimangu Shrine’s deity is Emperor Ojin (Hachiman Okami), and it has a connection with Ono no Imoko. It is said that this shrine was established by Ono no Imoko, and the legend says that he became sick on the way to ancient capital of China but was cured after praying at Usa Hachimangu Shrine in Oita Prefecture and consequently achieved his engagement. Then afterwards, he made a request to transfer the deity of the shrine to the present location in order to express his gratitude. This shrine is known as a guardian deity for children and its benefit of relieving the convulsions in children as well as deity of extermination of noxious insects. Also the shrine is familiarly called “Mushi Hachiman-san” by local people.
