Spend a night in a modern-style Japanese machiya
Jitsugetsusou was opened in March 2013. Guests are welcomed at the reception situated in the exact place that was originally used as a kitchen corridor, one of the typical structures of a Kyoto style machiya townhouse. Once you check-in, you will be the sole occupants of the house (one group only a night) and can savor the fine natural materials of the old building, including pillars using cypress and Kyoto’s Kitayama cedar, the pine floor, walls decorated with Karakami Japanese handmade paper, etc. On the other hand, fine Kyoto made beds and Western furniture blend in the room to present a Japanese-modern style. Across from the building where you stay, there is a main building where guests are welcome for traditional tea ceremony.
