A long-established obi manufacturer inheriting traditional Nishijin textile

Hattori Orimono has been operating obi (kimono sash) manufacturing since its establishment in the 1780’s. They have inherited traditional Nishijin’s hikihaku method of weaving gold and silver foil into textile. In their headquarter in Nishijin, there are colorful silk yarn for making obi, lined on a yarn shelf, and just seeing them makes us feel great. Meanwhile, they are taking on a new challenge to create products which meet the trends of the times and to send it all around the world. Mr. Kazumasa Hattori, Executive Managing Director, while designing and producing products that meet the trends, he also acts as an advisor for the “Men Wearing Kimono Group” and his activity areas are continually expanding.
