Enjoy small music concerts in a classical machiya townhouse
Kinpyo used to be a Japanese sake brewery that was founded in 1810. The massive façade of the house remains as a reminder of its past prosperity. Since it served as both a business place and family residence, it has a spacious entrance space. In general, machiya townhouses stand next to each other in a limited space so that people often mind making noise, however, thanks to the size of Kinpyo’s premises, people can organize a small music concert and even a dance show on the first floor. It can accommodate 10 people maximum so that it is often chosen to be a venue for school reunions. Though located near downtown Kyoto, the neighborhood is very quiet and safe. If you can afford, staying for two nights is recommended; enjoying their small gallery next door on the first day and then, for the second night, enjoy chatting with your friends around the traditional Japanese hearth. Kinpyo’s original sake and Kyoto’s specialty will be good company. For the second day, explore the old capital as much as you wish and just relax and rest at night in this beautiful over 205 years old machiya of Kyoto for an unforgettable moment in your life.
