A shop designed in collaboration with a leading creator attracting attention

Aēsop was established in 1987 in Melbourne, Australia.  Its products are widely recognized for the quality herbs and essential oils collected from all over the world.  Aēsop Kyoto opened as the first branch in Kyoto with the collaboration of Shin-ichiro Ogata, the representative of a design company, “SIMPLICITY.”  The shop’s design is inspired by one of the most famous classic Japanese novels “In Praise of Shadows” by the Nobel Prize Writer, Jun-ichiro Tanizaki, the aesthetic presented by the actor and drama writer of the 14th century, Motokiyo Zeami, Kyoto style town houses and the vertical writing of Japanese.  The beauty of traditional Japan and modernism exist in perfect harmony and is attracting the attention of Kyoto people.
